When a honeybee stings, its stinger stays behind, along with the poison sac. Often (but not always) the sac will also pull out the bee’s guts (what little there are in an insect that small), killing the creature. So Ramón is correct, sort of.

Hm… As far as I know, bumbles live in the ground, they don’t make the kind of nests. Wasps and hornets do that.

Don’t know about the stingers. With honeybees males definitely have stingers, cause the female ones are few and kept safe by males. Then again, bumbles don’t have hives as such…
