hmmmmm the plot thickens, and by plot i mean series of random events, and by thickens i mean WTH is going on! seriously though i love it, especially if youre bringing vivol in as a key character. Two thumbs up! hope you enjoy making this comic at least half as much as we all do reading it.
Inccidentaly is there any story behind moon bear planned or are you just going with the flow here?
i love this strip. i really hope there will be a bound novel available after it’s all over… i just want to keep reading… it’s difficult to wait a week for the next strip.
This strip is, without question, one of the best examples of visual story telling I have ever seen. the amount of emotion conveyed in each panel is simply astounding.
I just started reading this today as a redirect from PVP and all I can say is GREAT JOB!! The one with the white fox revealing his insecurities was truly inspired. Keep it up.
I love this comic Karl! Charles is my new favorite character and now that I’m finally caught up I can’t wait for the next story! What day of the week do you usually post? Please make sure and let us know if/when we can get this strip in book form!
Peace,
Tom

Moon bear is the shiz :)
Thanks everyone, and welcome, PvP readers!
Charles Christopher is updated on Wednesday of every week and will continue to be until I can figure out a way to do it more frequently – I’d love to do it daily, but I’ve gotta eat. ;)
I have no immediate plans to publish it in book form, but I’ll look into it when I get more strips under my belt and have something worth compiling. But the good news is that it’s here and it’s free! So keep coming back and letting me know what you think. Charles has a long road ahead of him and he could use the support.
And check out the rest of the transmission-x comics! There’s a new one every single day, and they’re all great. The ‘home’ link at the top of the page will take you there.
Whew.
Charles Christopher was down for the count after being swamped by traffic from PvP, but I seem to have gotten things back up and running.
Sorry about the dead air, folks! We should have things ironed out here pretty soon.
Wow…just wow. I saw someone say that this is the best example of visual storytelling he’s ever seen and I 100% agree. It’s serious and funny at the same time and it’s just so dynamic. This is a comic I will keep up with because it’s already became a favorite. Beautiful work indeed.
Yet another PvP redirect here. Gotta say, love the art. And the characters; you have a great ear for dialogue. Like most, I wish I knew what the hell was going on, but trust we’ll find out in due time.
Another PvP redirect, and I love it! Great art and characters. You get so much across through Charles with absolutely no dialogue on his part, great job. I’m excited to see where this all goes.
Yet another PvP redirect – simply beautiful artwork and wonderful storytelling. I’ve just finished reading all of them and can’t wait ’til next Wednesday!
Also PvP redirect….and SOOO glad I came to check it out. Just finished reading them all and it is amazing! The art is fantastic and story is wonderful. Can’t wait for this wednesday for the new one, and will definatly be egarly awaiting each wednesday following :)
Another PVP redirect. I don’t know where the story is going to go, but so far this looks like something I’d like to share with my kids. A bound version to read with them would be fab.
Another person cruising in from PvP. Definitely excellent. I love your artwork and silent protagonist. Excellent work! Definitely will be reading this ever Wednesday.
I just today discovered this comic thanks to Scott Kurtz of “Player vs. Player” fame, and I just have to say that this is some seriously great stuff. It’s beautiful, sublime, whimsical, touching, and gorgeous to look at. Earlier a couple of posters compared it to both Bone and Princess Mononoke, and I think it’s an apt comparison, as it does contain elements of both. However, at the same time, this work really stands apart from those, and has a distinct identity of its own. Excellent stuff, Karl, and I can’t wait to read more. Thank you for this.
Yet another PvP redirect…..
Your comic is sensational. I don’t think I have ever felt such a deep emotional connection with comic characters before! Keep it up!
Moon Bear is probably the best (ever) representation of the gentle power of nature that I’ve seen in a comic or a movie.
Strangely enough, Moon Bear makes me (a sprig of grain in a field of atheists), ME feel spiritual. Go figure.
Vivol is smaarrrt!! He’s like Odysseus in the Odyssey, the only one to actually feel when Athena is around.
I love that he feels the touch of a fellow bear and wakes up to see himself bathed in moonlight and immediately thinks, “Moon Bear.”
I wonder if there’s a myth, or legend that is passed through bears about the fabled Moon Bear. Or is meeting Moon Bear such a common occurrence that they don’t have to. Hmmm…
Thank you for making this comic. It is a breath of fresh air and calm that nothing could synthesize. You rock!
Oh, forgot to say. You now rank up there with Miyazaki on my list of artists who create beautiful images that somehow, in turn, manage to invoke peace and calm. Basically, that means you are amazing. Yay!
Another PvP redirect here – just read every strip, eagerly awaiting the next one. Imaginative page layout, evocative artwork, great dialogue, and so much *heart* – loving it.
Beautiful work! Just looking at the Teddy Roosevelt face on the SNow beast makes me smile! Whatever you are smoking or drinking to come up with these,..please don’t stop! It is so refreshing to see a strip that doesn’t talk about sex, violence or computers and also to see one that can stand alone in a comic book form. There doesn’t need to be a punchline in every strip when the story is captivating and the art is top notch! I wish people would understand this!!! I would like to see this in a comic book (not novel) in the stands! The comic book industry needs this really bad! Outside of PVP (who’s creator directed me here) this is the only other web comic that can carry the industry!
Karl,..I would also love to hear or see how you draw a strip and what tools and steps you implement during this entire process. I always find this information so fascinating!! By all means maybe you can hook up with Kurtz and be a guest on his Web Comics Confidential Podcast!
How about a YouTube clip of your step by step!!! I know,..time is always a factor! Great work!
This is really great work… I just got here from the PVP link which I hope will be a boon to this site, as it certainly deserves more traffic. This reminds me a lot of the movies of Hayao Miyazaki, especially My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke. There’s some hilarious moments, such as in #6, Sissi Skunk in #8, and perhaps my favorite one, #14 with the father and son watching Charles run amock.
Another referral from PVP – I’m just totally blown away – and for an “old phart” – that’s kinda hard to do . Part of the being blown away is the agreement of the fellow commentators . This is one of those series where I say – ” I hope it never ends” .
Keep it going – the spirit is with you – cherish it .

Unbelievable. Just perfect. I have now three webcomics that I must follow: PvP, Sinfest, and Charles Christopher.
The dialogue is sensational.

The snow fox is definitely my favorite so far…..so cute!
