I see the beaver is another of those “self-styled” experts . The timing of the non-vocal put-down by Charles – who just wanted a drink of water – is priceless .
Jon said “What is the splash in the first panel from?” – Could be the springs the beaver mentioned in the third panel . Then again – it could be something else . Karl does like to throw in the odd surprise now and then .
wow, water is DEEP right there at the edge… unless Charles is sucking mud off the bottom… and having suffered from ‘beaver fever’ (note the beaver there, too…) I just don’t recommend that!
The splash seems almost like something of Karl’s that’s gone flying and fallen in, which he’s now looking for underwater, but I don’t know what it would be. Maybe his pacifier, but I don’t think I’ve seen that since the scene on the mountain top.
Panel 1, the splash, imagine the beaver having just scooped up some of the water into his hand, and letting it fall gently through his fingers as he begins his description the fine elixir, nothing more . . . .
Cesare – That’s exactly what I had in mind.
I often begin these comics with a narrow panel to set the tone or setting of the story. Sometimes it’s a feather, sometimes a flower. This time it was a pool of water. Nothing to read into this time, I’m afraid.
I cannot recall which comedian I was watching, but he pointed out that Evian backwards is “naive”. There’s a lot of hype going on over drinking water here.

Subtle hints of apple. Ha! This is such a great comic. The artwork is just amazing. I would love to see it collected someday.

I absolutely love the baffled expressions in the fourth panel. Can’t wait for more!

Is Charles just thirsty from his run??

Third panel makes me giggle uncontrollably! Ahaha, I LOVE Christopher Charles’ face! It’s like, POP from the behind the rock
January 21st, 2009 at 10:52 pm
hint of apple and… oak, perhaps? The beaver reminds me of the rat from New Year’s – the same humorous undertones. Another great one K!

Beaver/woodchuck = Opus One
Sir Charles= Boone’s Farm
Is that a beaver or a woodchuck (groundhog)?
Great dig at the wine snobs, by the way.
January 22nd, 2009 at 9:29 am
This strongly reminds me of the time that I went to a wine bar. Lords, but I do love the art style of this comique. That’s Spanish for comic.

your pace is amazing, as always

So, did he get the feathers?! Or are they still on the tree?!…or ARE they the tree?! AH!
January 22nd, 2009 at 3:26 pm
The skunks will be hawking prime drinking spots soon….or trying to convince the other animals to buy it from them packaged in gourds or something.

January 25th, 2009 at 1:11 pm
Haha, too late for drowning, he looks like he’s already dead. Haha, I love the rabbit’s and the beaver’s baffled look.
January 26th, 2009 at 12:40 pm
Can’t get enough of that subtle apple flavor
January 26th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
- Oh- my word…
I just discovered this comic today. I have read the entire thing.
Often webcomics leave me unmoved in the extreme, except a few which make me laugh. Yours is… astounding.
You have an incredible talent. Keep going, please.
