Awwwwwwwww…. and I put that comment on the wrong blog entry.
How do birds kiss? Birds bill and coo. “What will he say when, instead of a pair of plump turtle doves, billing and cooing in a bower of roses, he finds a single lean cormorant, standing mateless and shelterless on poverty’s bleak cliff?”
I’ve been keeping up with this weekly ever since Charles met Townsen, and what kept me with you this long is the artwork and the plot. Just absolutely beautiful and compelling stuff on both counts.
That said, Charles released these feathers almost three months ago! I’ll admit, each time I open CC to find that there’s more on a bird’s failing marriage, or a dancing porcupine, or a revolutionary rat, I’m a little disappointed.
I realise that I’m not paying anything for my enjoyment of this comic, and obviously you’ve got quite a following Karl, but these are just my two cents. Keep doing what you’re doing, I’ll see you in a couple months when the story has developed a bit further.
Yeah, I really like this comic and I look forward to it every week, but it would be nice to find out what is happening with the feathers and stuff. It seems like we are never going to find out anything! That said, this is cute and I love the facial expression!
Isn’t “Dropped the kids off at school” a euphemism for pooping?
Or maybe it’s “dropped the kids off at the pool”…that makes more sense. But then birds just poop where they want to. He might as well just say “I dropped the kids off onto someone’s jacket!”
Anyway…yeah, get on with the Charles Christopher story already! Jeez, man! You’re ripping into our hearts with all these delaying strips.
i don’t know what they are complaining about- just last week we saw CC holding a feather and off down the river on a log. just because we don’t understand the feathers doesn’t mean CC or Karl does either!
i admit, when i found this comic and peeled through the archives, the subplots were much cuter because i didn’t have to wait a week to see what happens next ^_^
Wah! Poor bird. If she wasn’t mad at him before, she’s about to be. Aww, and she’s just way too cute in the third panel.
And Karl, don’t listen to the above whiners who are complaining about a storyline not moving forward. Personally, I fell in love with this comic because I didn’t see much of a storyline and it was just the cute lives of forest creatures and them interacting together.
Keep on doing what you’re doing, Karl! I’m just so absolutely in love with this comic that I don’t care what you do with it. I feel that if they want an “omg-move-the-quest-along” comic, there are thousands of others that they can enjoy: they should go find them and leave you alone.
My first post. Beautifully drawn strip, Karl! I like the fact that at anytime we could see ANY type of animal pop up! Now I have to sit and wait like everyone else for the next one…*sigh*
Maybe Karl could auction off the content of the next strip:
[] Pay $10 for a Charles strip
[] Pay $5 for an otter strip
[] Pay $7 for a businessman skunk(?) strip

LOL! Hope that when (and if) he admits he didn’t get her a present, she says “Oh, honey. Just being together is enough.”
(granted I don’t know a woman–myself included–who would say that and really truly mean it in their heart of hearts but one can hope, I suppose.)
February 18th, 2009 at 7:02 pm

You win the “Vashra calmly wipes the coffee off her monitor” award for the bugeyed birdie. Poor little guy just can’t get a break hehe.
February 24th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
Man if only I’d been married long enough to miss an anniversary… hang on to what you’ve got little birdy dudes!!!
February 25th, 2009 at 11:48 am
Good Lord, that’s my life.
Your work continually blows away all of my previous “comic” experiences. Wednesday is always a bit brighter because of this strip.
February 25th, 2009 at 12:00 pm
That expression is epic. Heck, all of them are, but that one is extra-epic.
I freakin’ love Wednesday.
May 30th, 2009 at 12:51 am
Nice that they’re finally reconciled. Hopefully. :-) Hope she doesn’t hold anniversary-forgetting against him. Need to forgive once in a while!
July 15th, 2009 at 7:19 pm
I absolutely love the birdie kisses! So cute!
