Domesticity
Chapter Two begins here!
Thanks to everyone who came out to see me at FanExpo Toronto! There were lots of guests there specifically to meet the TX crew, and I did a bunch of Charles Christopher sketches for people (mostly Townsen sketches, actually, but who’s counting?).
I’m on a train from Toronto to MontrĂ©al right now, but I’ll start posting sketches in the forum when I get a chance.

An amazing opening page about the little kingdom of man. Now we know what the people value…
Clean and dry sheets : )
So much for “Uncharacteristically quiet:…
Love the art as always, Karl.

wow…. this is so great. Love that we are in the city, and Panel 2 is stellar.
(I am so excited for chapter two!)
September 2nd, 2009 at 7:42 pm
Haha, this is an interesting setting/character change. Can’t wait to see where this goes!!!
September 2nd, 2009 at 7:48 pm
Exciting change of cast! Love the the little paws on head in the last panel. Missed them on my first read.
September 2nd, 2009 at 7:51 pm
Woooeee! chapter two!
It was super to see you at the show! (You are taller than I thought)
The cat with small mouth in the last panel is so funny. And I agree with John, city scape of panel two is a beauty – a smokey mystery. I’m so excited to meet each new character hidden between each building and lurking in each alley!

Yay, kitties!!! Ok, got that out of my system… Wonderful start to chapter two, Karl. ^^ I certainly didn’t expect the scenery change, but I like it. I love the cats attitudes. This seems like their daily means of entertainment. Absolutely wonderful. XD
September 2nd, 2009 at 8:00 pm
Chapter two! Does that mean there may soon be a BOOK of chapter one? ;)
September 2nd, 2009 at 8:08 pm
geebs dude, you’ve really stepped it up for chapter 2. Coming right out of the gate with this ominous feeling of important things to come, it’s an exciting time to be an ACC fan.
September 2nd, 2009 at 8:35 pm
First words from a human in this strip…I believe. This is certainly a change of pace.
September 2nd, 2009 at 8:54 pm
Intriguing…It’s going to be fun watching this develop.
September 2nd, 2009 at 8:55 pm
Looks great my friend!! Can’t wait to see what you have in store. It was nice to finally meet you face to face. I really appreciate your advice as well with printing for The Anthology Project. I let the rest of the gang know what you’d said so we can start weighing the options. What was the name of the place you’re going with again? Shoot me an email if you can, when you get a moment! Talk to you soon my friend!

I call ‘his highness’ being a small, yappy dog!
September 2nd, 2009 at 10:21 pm
oh my good lord in heaven. i almost peed my pants when i saw an entirely different scene/characters. and i definitely will in anticipation for you to knock this story line out of the ball park too.
….quick! i need to say something humbling! uhhhhhh…. what a horrible (lack of) transition
ps- i live for your punny titles
September 3rd, 2009 at 12:02 am
Oh no! You were at Fan Expo??? I didn’t KNOW. DAMMIT. *was totally there* I fail epically…:(:(

Story Development!? Alert the Guards!
September 3rd, 2009 at 1:40 am
Good call avadavat; maybe a siamese cat?
September 3rd, 2009 at 2:17 am
Has anyone said “master storyteller” lately?
Cause… yeah.
September 3rd, 2009 at 2:22 am
Love the fact that there’s a pyramid(?) right in the middle of the city.
September 3rd, 2009 at 3:35 am
Anyone else reminded of The Cat Returns?
Awesome comic
September 3rd, 2009 at 5:24 am
I’m curious how you managed to get this posted from the train. I mean, I understand wireless uploading and all that, but how did you manage to get the strip drawn, scanned, and cleaned up all in a moving vehicle? Regardless, I’m impressed with your dedication to meeting the deadline! (It goes without saying, of course, that I’m also impressed with the contents, but that isn’t a surprise at this point.)

wowowowowowowowow
September 3rd, 2009 at 7:07 am
*squints at next to last panel*
…are you drawing Brando, again?
September 3rd, 2009 at 8:22 am
As someone who has extensive experience imagining the interior lives of feral cats in Middle Eastern cities, I applaud you sir. I applaud you.
September 3rd, 2009 at 8:57 am
You’re an amazing artist. Almost every page of this comic has me in awe.
September 3rd, 2009 at 9:08 am
The only reasons I was at the con were to say hello to my Friend Alex, and see you guys on the T-X panel… and I wasn’t disappointed. It was both nformative and funny!
Thanks (to you and the rest of the T-X crew) for putting it on.
September 3rd, 2009 at 10:52 am
Ha! So much for a quiet morning…XD
I wonder if this is the city that the lion was telling CC about…Hmm.
September 3rd, 2009 at 11:19 am
Hi all!
In answer to your question, JMG, I drew and inked the strip on Tuesday/Wednesday morning, then scanned it and took it with me on the train. Used my macbook to colour it and I tethered my iPhone to the laptop to upload the strip and create the new post.
Hurray for technology!
(colouring on a shaky train using a trackpad is annoying, though, and I do not recommend it.)
September 3rd, 2009 at 1:12 pm
Wacky urban hijinks!
September 3rd, 2009 at 2:10 pm
I’m guessing with the second frame, we’re lookin’ through a window?
And someone said Cat Returns. I thought the same thing, but I mean, how many types of cats are there? XD But the fluffy one does remind me of the Cat King, babe. ;)
September 3rd, 2009 at 6:59 pm
Love it!
September 3rd, 2009 at 9:33 pm
Dunno about anyone else, but does the cat in panel three remind you of the evil cat in “Cats vs Dogs”?
September 4th, 2009 at 2:22 am
E=MC_horse, it kind of does now that you mention it…
Ah, the city. From one extreme (sprawling, forested) to another (tight, urban, synthetic). I wonder what “His Royal Highness” will turn out to have to do with TACC.
September 4th, 2009 at 12:29 pm
Oh wow… new location, new characters… this just keeps getting better and better! Streaming light in panel 2!!
September 4th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
Oh man, I so hope it is a little yappy dog … that would utterly rule.
It’s good to be back on track with the story … I can’t wait to buy the first book and reread my way up to date. Any hints on size/ format you can give us yet Karl?
September 4th, 2009 at 10:53 pm
Someday, I want to see this story animated, or find a way to GET it animated. I love this story and art so much.
September 6th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
Pretty sure the son of the human king would be a human…
September 6th, 2009 at 10:14 pm
I love this one! It’s fresh, it’s well-done, and it moves the story along.
Back to form for ACC. :)
September 6th, 2009 at 10:24 pm
However, the partial erasure on the cat’s left in panel 2 looks like a mistake to me. Nowhere else is the black ink in this strip lightened to grey.
September 7th, 2009 at 12:23 am
Would it be possible for the comics that were made during your hiatus be placed in a different section on the website? It would make following the comic a lot easier for new readers. or for people who want to backtrack to remind themselves of what happened earlier in the story.
September 7th, 2009 at 10:07 am
It would be possible, Sirot, but a bit of a hassle at the moment. I’m going to do a bit of a site redesign soon, so maybe I’ll think of something.
As it stands, those guest strips (as well as the personal ads) fall between chapters, so it’s not really getting in the way of the story.
September 7th, 2009 at 9:52 pm
No, no. Clearly, Mr. Persian (?) Cat is not a Brando impersonator. He is a Wilford Brimley impersonator.
Also, I love the city shot. It reminds me of the locales in Assassin’s Creed, particularly with the cat walking around on all the rooftops… Hopefully he won’t be assassinating anyone, though. Except maybe rats or something.
September 8th, 2009 at 8:37 pm
My LORD, that is some breathtaking artwork.
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:18 pm
“His royal highness” makes me think of Prince Froglip from The Princess and the Goblin already XD !
September 27th, 2009 at 9:06 am
This comic makes me realize how much I still have to learn! Very awesome.
