PS: the artwork in this strip reminds me of Japanese wood block prints… the first frame looks very much like a traditional Japanese rendition of a fox. Except he’s praying to the goddess Nomnomnom instead of Inari.
this is beautiful! i love the ermine (though the first panel reminds me of the fox in “The Dream Hunters” that Yoshitaka Amano illustrates). Well done!
A friend of mine was sprayed by a skunk on his way home for Christmas. It climbed into his car when he was doing an engine check. Tee hee. The tear in panel 3 summed the whole thing up for all of us that day lol…
I just wrote an entry on web comics on my blog, and included a link to yours (and a few others) so my fifteen followers (and many more random perusers) might find your amazing strip! Hopefully, some of them will enjoy your work as much as I do.
YES! I finally caught up on all your ACC comics! And I hate reading webcomics, too tedious, but your art is so stunning and beautiful…and your plot is so interesting…I had to read it all <3 Question: Do you have this in stores? ;D
“Ermine are carnivores that hunt primarily at night. They are specialist predators on small, warm-blooded vertebrates, preferably mammals of rabbit size and smaller. When mammalian prey is scarce, ermine eat birds, eggs, frogs, FISH, and insects.”
Perhaps I’m reading too far into this, but it almost seems like the little weasel has something of an epiphany on the last panel with regards to eating eggs.
They are, after all, someone’s babies!
Either way, I read the entire archive in one sitting, and experienced profound disappointment once I reached a point where there were no more to read.
Incredible stuff–I’m inspired to get back to my art.
Oh dear God! Only too funny! Yes, that wonderful burn rubber, rotten egg mix of skunk freshly administered to fur and up that close does bring tears to your eyes. Left my dog whimpering in a mixture of chagrin and fear as well as she tried to bury herself in my sister’s bed. Not a good night…

Hehe, seems like he could almost give the skunks a run for their money… almost. I think someone needs a bath. XD

fish, eggs, and berries. delicious!
December 2nd, 2009 at 10:23 am
Ermine! Three cheers!
Also known as the stoat.
You know the difference between a stoat and a weasel?
Well a weasel is weasilly distinguished.
Because a stoat is stoatally different.

Beautiful stuff Karl!

Guess that skunk left a lasting impression, heh. Nice that Charles could share it with someone!
Think he needs a tomato juice bath.
December 6th, 2009 at 5:13 am
There’s a dead fish in the first panel that didn’t put him off his feed, but the reek of Charles got him. Beautifully drawn Karl. I love your work.

Basically, he’s a nom-nom-nomnivore.

Ermine also eat sliced bread!

*Anxiously awaiting today’s comic*
December 10th, 2009 at 5:54 am
One tear running down his face? Maybe Charles Christopher got to the Crying Indian, as well…
January 19th, 2010 at 4:23 am
A little bit of a late comment, but I think this poor guy is one of the animals killed in the most recent strip.
May 6th, 2010 at 12:47 am
I really like this one. Charles saved those eggs from being eaten with his superpower of smelling bad.

Ermine my favourite kind of “bird”…
There’s a story to that.
