Strike Three
The way I see it, our hero has three options:
1) Reassert himself
2) Go home and play D&D
3) Fight Serge

I say: Reassert himself, by letting her know the flowers are from him and that he’s going kick Serge’s @ss. Then go fight and lose to Serge and then go home and play D&D!
June 9th, 2010 at 10:03 am
ehh, give it a 1 for me. If the girl doesn’t like him anyway, she wasn’t right for him to begin with. It’s worth a try, but he can always go elsewhere with his affections. There will always be rabbits. c;
June 9th, 2010 at 10:05 am
D&D without question. Whats some girl in comparison to Funions and some good mates for company.
June 9th, 2010 at 10:08 am
None of the above. He should get a girl who plays D&D and actually likes him back.
June 9th, 2010 at 10:10 am
D&D FTW. poor guy
June 9th, 2010 at 10:11 am
Is Lottie seeing anyone?
June 9th, 2010 at 10:15 am
Good question, John!
June 9th, 2010 at 10:25 am
D&D. that poor rabbit.
June 9th, 2010 at 10:27 am
1.
June 9th, 2010 at 10:30 am
He should probably introduce himself first and then give her the present. He needs to get the first words in or else she’s going to run the conversation and slam the door in his face after taking the present again.
~*KA*~
June 9th, 2010 at 10:38 am
He should remember there are always more hot bunny chicks in the world. He should stop wasting his time, and move on.
June 9th, 2010 at 10:49 am
Just go home and play D&D, man. She ain’t worth it. Consider it a potentially miserable relationship dodged.
June 9th, 2010 at 10:56 am
Serge must die…
well, not so much as die, but al least be defeted
June 9th, 2010 at 10:57 am
Fight Serge. He should confront the source of the problem.
June 9th, 2010 at 11:00 am
D&D never breaks your heart. Poor little guy. I wonder how the porcupine is doing with his multi-faceted rocks.
June 9th, 2010 at 11:07 am
I say fight serge.
June 9th, 2010 at 11:08 am
Why isn’t Serge bringing his own flowers?
June 9th, 2010 at 11:20 am
Fight, for sure. I’d love to see some teen titan styles drop kicks in this comic.
June 9th, 2010 at 11:22 am
Reassert Himself!! He can always go home and play D&D after, if things go bad, and fighting Serge without cause would be wrong. Unspoken love hurts worse than rejection, anyway.
June 9th, 2010 at 11:23 am
Reassert! Reassert!
June 9th, 2010 at 11:30 am
Fight.
He’s gotta take him Watership Down boy!
June 9th, 2010 at 11:31 am
definitely 1 D: Stand tall, little guy!
June 9th, 2010 at 11:48 am
He’s going home to play RuneQuest cause only nerds play DnD.
June 9th, 2010 at 11:51 am
I also want to know if Lottie is seeing someone…I’d like to see some serendipity for this guy.
June 9th, 2010 at 11:52 am
I choose D- None of the above. Club her over the head cave-rabbit-style and drag her off by her ears.
June 9th, 2010 at 11:54 am
Reassert himself by inviting her to play D&D. Her Lottie. I bet she’d love it.
June 9th, 2010 at 11:56 am
He needs to reassert himself, without question. She will initially rebuff him, and he will go play D&D. While playing, she and Serge will happen upon the game, she will show a spark of interest, leading Serge to begin an altercation, which young rabbit will end with either a well placed word… Or a well placed pop to the nose.
June 9th, 2010 at 12:01 pm
Reassert himself!
June 9th, 2010 at 12:03 pm
I’d go with reasserting himself and telling her the truth, *then* asking if her friend has a boyfriend. If she says no…. ;)
June 9th, 2010 at 12:06 pm
fight serge!
he sounds like an unsavoury frenchman ;P
June 9th, 2010 at 12:11 pm
fight the hell outta serge!
June 9th, 2010 at 12:25 pm
He should definitely reassert himself, though I’m not sure he’ll be very successful. He just doesn’t seem like a very assertive rabbit.
But he should do his best, and then ask Lottie out!
June 9th, 2010 at 12:34 pm
Reassert!
June 9th, 2010 at 12:51 pm
Reassert…then fight Serge! c:
June 9th, 2010 at 12:52 pm
I vote D&D: much more productive than trying to break up other people’s relationships, and you feel better afterwards.
June 9th, 2010 at 12:54 pm
I don’t think he should be fighting. Poor rabbit. He should serenade her, or write her a poem. :)
Or get back on his feet and tell her that they were his flowers.
June 9th, 2010 at 1:09 pm
1) Reassert himself
June 9th, 2010 at 1:28 pm
C’mon, man!! where’s the edge?
I think he should date Lottie!!!!!
June 9th, 2010 at 1:29 pm
Reassert himself!! Can’t let Serge take his credit, even if he is rejected.
June 9th, 2010 at 1:31 pm
D&D! Perhaps Lottie will play as well. lol
June 9th, 2010 at 1:35 pm
Fight Serge!
June 9th, 2010 at 1:36 pm
awww this actually made me sad!! He should reassert himself!
June 9th, 2010 at 1:37 pm
Reassert himself! Even if she turns him down in the end, it would be good for him.
@Alex – You’re a scary cat.
June 9th, 2010 at 1:38 pm
Don’t go home in defeat. Reassert!
June 9th, 2010 at 1:39 pm
See, if the poor guy had an Internet connection he’d have FOUR options.
(I met my wife in a role playing game online, so it sometimes works)
June 9th, 2010 at 1:42 pm
number 1!
June 9th, 2010 at 1:44 pm
1. Reassert Himself
Poor self-esteem and poor communication skills will not get you anywhere. And violence on an innocent party is not the answer either! (Although at his current state of mind without a 3rd party cheering him up, it’s really hard to know what he’ll do).
June 9th, 2010 at 1:51 pm
Fight!
June 9th, 2010 at 1:53 pm
FIGHT
June 9th, 2010 at 1:58 pm
I’m leaning towards option two, but Serge could probably use a beating. I’m going with #3!
June 9th, 2010 at 2:03 pm
FIGHT WHILE LARPING AS HIS D&D CHARACTER.
http://www.instantsfun.es/victoryff
Yesssssss. Go bunnyboy go!
June 9th, 2010 at 2:06 pm
D&D
June 9th, 2010 at 2:16 pm
Reassert himself, come on little guy, don’t give up just yet!
June 9th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
He should forget about her! She’ll never appreciate him. Not worth his time. I don’t like her.
June 9th, 2010 at 2:25 pm
If Serge is better looking, he could go the Cyrano de Bergerac route and use him as a proxy.
June 9th, 2010 at 2:33 pm
Option 4 (“Hateful Hare”):
-Step 1- Let her believe that Serge sent the flowers.
-Step 2- Send debt collectors with the flower shop bill to her burrow. Maybe Sissi Skunk could help out here?
-Step 3- Celebrate with some D&D. There is no situation that playing D&D can’t improve!
June 9th, 2010 at 2:33 pm
FIGHT TO THE DEATH
then dump the girl and go play D&D :V
June 9th, 2010 at 2:40 pm
Date Lottie.
June 9th, 2010 at 2:57 pm
I have been waiting for a long time for this poor guy to get a date with the girl bunnie…assert himself! He’s been a wuss long enough! Why fight another guy when the girl doesn’t even know he likes her?
June 9th, 2010 at 2:58 pm
D&D would be epic!
June 9th, 2010 at 3:13 pm
i say reassert himself… “Serge” sounds like he might be kinda big…
June 9th, 2010 at 3:30 pm
Isn’t Serge a weasel? If so, rabbits are the natural prey of weasels and he would stand no chance in an actual fight with Serge.
But, why fight for this air-headed wench? Living with a witch like this one would be hell on (or under) earth. This rabbit chick is like Denise Richards. Pretty, but a LOT of drama. Extremely high maintenance.
Instead of D&D he should go find a pretty little bunny-girl who is sensible. After all, there have to be LOTS of them in the woods.
June 9th, 2010 at 3:37 pm
I dunno. If the Game Master wants to prevent your happiness in any of your character’s relationships, it will certainly happen, so i would assert that D&D can totally break your (figuratively speaking) heart, at least in the sense of the game.
And that would be terrible for our put-down long eared hero right now… poor guy.
I say #1. Reassert yourself, and shrug it off if you get a no. Everyone gets rejected sometimes. At least he had the mettle to take the risk. Better to take it than regret forever. :D
June 9th, 2010 at 3:52 pm
I sometimes try to write something funny when a new comic come up, but now I just think “What’s the point?”. I don’t think there’s much chance somebody would actually go to the trouble of reading through all of these comments. Goddamm you Massive Fan Base, goddamm you.
Here goes anyway: Love is like a Rabbit. More plentiful than you think, can undermine you if you let it grow too fast and occasionally turns up to your house with flowers and you think that they’re from that cute boy you like, OMG! EEEEEEE!!!
You cruel, naïve person.
June 9th, 2010 at 4:02 pm
That girl has crazy eyes. He’s better off without her. She’s clearly nuts.
June 9th, 2010 at 4:29 pm
Reassert himself. If she laughs or says something like “Nonono of course they came from Serge” then psshh. Ask Lottie if she’d like to play D&D.
June 9th, 2010 at 4:43 pm
Poor rabbit. Reassert himself, of course. He (and we) will find out whether she’s right for him. Quite a number of people are anticipating Lottie in her stead though, heh…
And why so many votes for fighting? O.o Honestly… *Shakes head* ;)
June 9th, 2010 at 4:48 pm
I would say fight serge, but I just get the feeling that would turn out badly…
Oh well, 3!
June 9th, 2010 at 4:52 pm
There are plenty of rabbits in the forest! He needs to find another.
June 9th, 2010 at 4:58 pm
Be assertive! Don’t let her walk all over you!
June 9th, 2010 at 5:12 pm
Who the heck is Serge?
June 9th, 2010 at 5:34 pm
D&D
June 9th, 2010 at 5:40 pm
Fight, naturally.
June 9th, 2010 at 5:40 pm
Fight Serge!
June 9th, 2010 at 5:54 pm
I want to see him reassert himself! He already blew off D&D once, it’d be too much of a pity for him to give up and play such a lonely game. Go for it little dude!
June 9th, 2010 at 5:56 pm
Reassert himself and then maybe fight with Serge. Most women don’t fall for cowards…he just needs to show her what he’s really made of!
June 9th, 2010 at 5:57 pm
Fight Serge!
June 9th, 2010 at 6:03 pm
Reassert himself. If she doesn’t get the hint after that, then I guess she wasn’t worth it in the first place.
June 9th, 2010 at 6:08 pm
Go date Serge, the insecure li’l rat’s probably a closet gay anyway.
June 9th, 2010 at 6:14 pm
Reassert himself!
He should make her shut up and then explain. he seems like such a nice guy, she should be able to see that!
June 9th, 2010 at 6:15 pm
Fight Serge! It’s time to kick off!
June 9th, 2010 at 6:31 pm
D&D! At least then he’s got decent company and the ability to create NPCs on which to release his frustrations.
June 9th, 2010 at 6:36 pm
#1. Boy needs to grow a pair.
June 9th, 2010 at 6:36 pm
Play D&D. He could find a gamer chick and gamer chicks ROCK!
June 9th, 2010 at 6:41 pm
If he reasserts himself, she’ll probably laugh at him since she has eyes for Serge. If he fights Serge, win or lose, Serge will still get the girl. The only real option is, and always will be, go play D&D. Give the poor guy a gamer girl.
June 9th, 2010 at 7:06 pm
I know exactly hoe he feels….. dumb Serge.
June 9th, 2010 at 7:20 pm
Has he ever asserted himself in the first place??
He definitely should ask for Lottie next time.
June 9th, 2010 at 7:32 pm
I’m with the others who thinks this guy just needs to move on. I haven’t seen one redeeming aspect for this filly and other than the acting chops might hint to apotential interest in D&D – I got to believe there’s a better match out there for him. I mean they’re rabbits for pete’s sake!
June 9th, 2010 at 7:53 pm
I would say reassert himself because then you could say at least you tried- but c’mon! if she was worth doting over, she would have asked “who are these from?” instead of assuming they are from another dating interest.
I wouldn’t go home and play D&D either though. plenty of fish in the sea!
June 9th, 2010 at 7:58 pm
REASSERT HIMSELF! XD He just needs to keep on trying! <3 This strip made me so sad, omg. XD Poor guy.
June 9th, 2010 at 8:09 pm
i’m with Razor:
option 1, but if she’s mean/a flake (she already seems self-centred), then see what Lottie’s sayin’!
June 9th, 2010 at 8:10 pm
REASSERT HIMSELF! :3 Keep with it little guy. She’ll notice sooner or later. Prolly next time she talks to Serge and he’s like “what flowers?”
June 9th, 2010 at 8:11 pm
Number 1!! Its how I’m married today! :D
June 9th, 2010 at 8:20 pm
KEEP IT UP LIL’ GUY!!!! Man, I know exactly how he feel right now. : (
June 9th, 2010 at 8:25 pm
1 Settle this like a rabbit.
June 9th, 2010 at 8:34 pm
I don’t see why 2 & 3 have to be mutually exclusive. He should invite Serge over for a game of D&D, THEN defeat him.
June 9th, 2010 at 8:40 pm
He doesn’t seem very assertive, nor much of a fighter. While playing D&D he meets a bunny girl who kicks his butt at the game while smiling sweetly at him.
June 9th, 2010 at 10:09 pm
Invite her to play D+D and invite Lottie too.
June 9th, 2010 at 10:16 pm
If he’s coming from the underdog mentality.. Spirited reassertion followed by a likely rejection, Comedy option D&D, or starting a fight likely to lose it?
Hell.. I’d go with the D&D to reflect upon the choices with friends, grow a pair to try to fight Surge, then in defeat reassert himself to her and pray for the best.
so yea.. 2, then 3, and ending with 1.
:)
June 9th, 2010 at 10:19 pm
i can’t believe how many people said
makes me upset.
provocative use of your post, kerschl.
you got a lot of comments today.
makes me wonder why all these people don’t comment usually….
June 9th, 2010 at 10:20 pm
that was supposed to read:
i can’t believe how man people said ‘fight’.
why fight?
reassert
or play D&D.
but don’t fight.
what a waist of energy.
June 9th, 2010 at 10:52 pm
I’d like him to assert himself!
I really enjoy your comic. Thanks for putting it online!
June 9th, 2010 at 11:22 pm
I fully agree with the first guy.
June 9th, 2010 at 11:26 pm
I’m with Ivy. She’s not worth it, and the best part of growing up isn’t learning to reassert yourself (although that’s cool too), it’s figuring out who isn’t worth your time. There are totally rabbits of the appropriate gender who plan D&D, and finding one of those would be A) awesome for him and B) funny. Everybody wins!
June 10th, 2010 at 12:04 am
FIGHT SERGE. WIN.
June 10th, 2010 at 12:25 am
#1
June 10th, 2010 at 12:44 am
Don’t mess with Serge, he wields a double-ended bladed oar.
June 10th, 2010 at 1:01 am
Get with Lottie so, um, ah, “She” gets jealous and then, ummmm…
Ah, who am I kidding, go home get drunk and play D&D. That’s what I’d do. Cause I’m a wuss.
If I played D&D…..
June 10th, 2010 at 1:04 am
Find a new girl. This one seems set to be a nightmare of high-maintenance.
June 10th, 2010 at 1:07 am
I think the only sure route is to stage an elaborate ruse to show serge up as the coward he is. Unless he’s actually a cool guy, and then you’re hooped.
June 10th, 2010 at 1:40 am
Mr. Rabbit, go home and play D&D. She isn’t even worth the trouble u_u;
June 10th, 2010 at 2:07 am
Why doesn’t he go with the simple option of writing a card with those flowers? Or with the box of chocolates, or whatever? If it’s signed by him not Serge, she’ll eventually work out it’s NOT from Serge. She’s not all that dim.
June 10th, 2010 at 3:27 am
i’m almost going with the other alex s, just slightly modified:
first, reassert himself by letting her know about the flowers and also letting her know he’s going to kick serge’s ass; then go up to serge (with her and lottie following behind in terror); then see something very upsetting/stunning (either: a. serge’s a *really* big fellow, or b. the girl acts horribly (again), or c. lottie’s *really* stunning); no fight; and go home not alone (with wisdom also being a valid companion). :-)
first time commenter, looong time reader. love love *LOVE* the strip, waiting anxiously on the books… ;-)
June 10th, 2010 at 4:36 am
Assert himself. The whole “unrequited love hidden in his heart” thing is very overdone, and has been since it was first invented, back in the days of Eleanor of Aquitaine.
Haven’t we actually seen Serge in an earlier strip?
June 10th, 2010 at 4:55 am
I vote #2 but with a minor change. instead of D&D, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunnies_and_Burrows
June 10th, 2010 at 4:59 am
Fight fight fight!
June 10th, 2010 at 5:11 am
Go back home and play D&D. She ain’t right for him.
June 10th, 2010 at 5:28 am
Go home, watch Watership Down and fantasize about Clover.
June 10th, 2010 at 5:42 am
Definitely reassert. Can’t let the poor guy just walk away after that.
June 10th, 2010 at 5:48 am
3
June 10th, 2010 at 6:30 am
Option 5: Run away and join the theatre.
And … man, this strip is getting serious comments.
June 10th, 2010 at 7:14 am
D&D is ALWAYS the answer.
June 10th, 2010 at 8:19 am
dang 122 comments!
well, I say he will likely have to do all 3! and in this order:
1) reassert himself;
2) go play D&D; and then,
3) get ready to fight Serge, as I am sure he will come a-knock’n when girl-rabbit tells him what happened….
YOU GO GUY!
:)
June 10th, 2010 at 8:44 am
What a sweetheart Serge is! How thoughtful:) By the way Karl, did you see your birthday is on Father’s Day this year? Is it an omen?
June 10th, 2010 at 8:56 am
I would go with 1, but I also like Ivy K’s idea.
June 10th, 2010 at 8:57 am
Assert, assert!
June 10th, 2010 at 10:18 am
I find Lottie to be presumptuous and self-centered. Sadly, she’ll only come around once our little bunny hero has sacrificed himself helping Charles save the forest. Serge will be humiliated once he shows his cowardice and throws Lottie under the bus (perhaps literally) to save his own skin. Bunny life is so Shakespearean , man.
June 10th, 2010 at 10:30 am
Play D&D, *then* reassert himself.
No. 1 if I can’t split my vote.
June 10th, 2010 at 11:04 am
While I love D&D, I’m voting for reassurting
June 10th, 2010 at 11:24 am
Reassert himself! (though alot of good that’s ever done ME!)
June 10th, 2010 at 11:29 am
None of the above – find himself a hot girl who likes D&D AND him. They exist :)
June 10th, 2010 at 11:42 am
Our hero needs to grow himself some manly bunny balls and reassert!! Then ask her to play D&D!!
June 10th, 2010 at 12:11 pm
Go play D&D, realize its a waste of time, and go get pounded by Serge :)
June 10th, 2010 at 12:52 pm
I vote…
He plays D&D, wherein he fights a character based on Serge (or Serge’s character, if applicable) and through role-play realizes he must reassert himself.
Haha~!
June 10th, 2010 at 1:28 pm
Fight Serge as a means of reassertion!
June 10th, 2010 at 2:05 pm
I say 1)reassert himself!! It would be interesting to see how the female responds. Also, she should know the flowers are from him and not Serge. Gives her a false sense that he’s an abosolutely wonderful guy.
June 10th, 2010 at 2:14 pm
Whoah, a lot of comments! Maybe “vote in the comments section” wasn’t such a good idea…
I’d say “reassert himself”, but what if it actually works? Our poor bunny would lose some of his charm if things stop commically failing for him (although, what he would do if it actually works might be a comical faliure in itself ;) )
June 10th, 2010 at 2:42 pm
I vote he go home and play D&D, BUT in doing so he gets the idea to fight surge – The nerdy (and awesome) D&D quest way!
June 10th, 2010 at 3:19 pm
D&D. She’s rude and thoughtless.
June 10th, 2010 at 3:50 pm
if it were me, I would dream of reasserting myself and fighting serge, but in reality I would go home play D&D and listen to my music…
June 10th, 2010 at 5:24 pm
Time to dust off the ol’ D20…
June 10th, 2010 at 5:48 pm
#3!!!! fight Fight FIGHT!
June 10th, 2010 at 6:21 pm
#1 reassert yourself! Go, tell her they’re from you. Don’t fight Serge! Fighting won’t help!
June 10th, 2010 at 10:05 pm
go home and play D&D, she seems like a dumb tart that’s not worth the trouble
June 10th, 2010 at 11:39 pm
2. Go home and play D&D! Met two of my former boyfriends that way lol he needs to get himself a geek girl!
June 11th, 2010 at 12:06 am
Saw the mention on PVP regarding the book, so I had to check the comic. Such amazing artwork! Of course, now I’m overloaded after going through the archives in one day. Waiting for the new work each week will be tough but worth it.
My vote is for #2 – go home and play D&D. He’s not going to win the fair lady. He should have waited for her to be alone before presenting her with flowers. When a girl is with her girlfriends the peer pressure can be great towards not accepting such tokens, especially if her girlfriends think she can do better. Poor guy!
June 11th, 2010 at 12:10 am
He should find somebody new.
June 11th, 2010 at 2:05 am
Even if he did win her, and they have a ton of kids (it’s what rabbits do), she’d leave him to watch the kids while she expressed herself in the theatre, and had an affair with Serge on the side. Dump her. She’s Denise Richards all over again.
June 11th, 2010 at 3:16 am
Came over to see this after it was mentioned on the PvP page.
One word: Wonderful!
I just read through the whole thing from start to finish and can’t wait for the next episode. I love the way you flip effortlessly from serious drama to low comedy and back again without breaking stride.
The art reminds me of a kind of cross between Chrales Vess and Mike Ploog (don’t worry, I know what I mean) and the ‘funny animals’ immediately make me think of Hodge-Podge and Portnoy from Bloom County. Trust me, that’s high praise indeed.
I’m completely hooked. Keep up the good work.
And bring back Townsen, even if only as a spirit guide!
June 11th, 2010 at 3:35 am
He could channel his frustration into art. Posting his work on a semi-private log. Watch as his creative genius begins to be admired by everyone. Perhaps gain the confidence to hang it on the web(spiders willing) for everyone to see.
June 11th, 2010 at 3:36 am
Or option 4? Move on and find someone who’s not taken? Naw, that doesn’t work in fiction. In which case he definitely should get in a fight…or just continue his Schadenfreude efforts without success.
June 11th, 2010 at 3:47 am
I’ve been reading webcomics for a while but I stumbled today upon Charles and just finished going through the archives. And this is just beyond any expectations I’ve ever had!! Thank you for your work, it’s heart warming, passionate and funny.
And it resonates today, truly.
And he should reassert himself, get his heart broken for his own good and then mend it again. As the heart is always supposed to, grow. Learned that in a song ;). In spanish though…

The strip where he gets off his ass from playing D&D to go get the girl will completely go to waste if he doesn’t turn around and reassert himself. We want to see the loser win the right way.
June 11th, 2010 at 8:30 am
He should reassert himself. I agree with shawnacy, his stepping away from D&D to persue real life goals was a good lesson! He shouldnt regress. There’ll be time for D&D after lady company has been secured.
June 11th, 2010 at 9:01 am
I would like to see him GM a D&D match that Serge’s participating in.
June 11th, 2010 at 9:24 am
Go back an hour later and ask for the flowers back, please, because Serge misaddressed the card and meant to send the flowers to another girl (D&D, after all, adds to your creativity and acting skills).
June 11th, 2010 at 12:04 pm
Agree with @Shawnacy, the story arc demands #1
June 11th, 2010 at 12:04 pm
But @Speedwell’s solution has a certain something…
June 11th, 2010 at 12:09 pm
FIGHT SERGE! By the way, congrats on the 2010 Eisner nomination!
June 11th, 2010 at 1:17 pm
i want to say fight serge, but if it were me I would probably go and play a video game or read a comic. So I am going to vote for D&D
June 11th, 2010 at 2:07 pm
1! She’s such a brat D:< I couldn't like her even if he did fight Serge and win her heart, it'd feel so fake.
June 11th, 2010 at 2:37 pm
Why do the nice guys go after the vapid?
June 11th, 2010 at 2:42 pm
Karl – this is not a comment on your latest posting – but instead is the posting seen on PVP – where Scott Kurtz has posted a rave review of your book – along with the picture of the book . For those not familiar with PVP – here is a link http://www.pvponline.com/ . Just thought you would like to know .

argh just lost my comment into the internet ether…
I suggested that he should join the theatre group and become a star then when the girl bunny is smitten run off with Lottie!
I just started a webcomic, very new naive, amateur, please check it out if you have time….

I vote that he goes and shows that Serge fellow what for. If he does it in front of the female rabbit, he might even impress her enough to accomplish #1 as well.
June 11th, 2010 at 3:56 pm
I’d personally like to see how the animals roleplay…id imagine sissi would make an excellent rogue if she weren’t too busy fleecing the other animals
June 11th, 2010 at 4:26 pm
I think the kicker is that she doesn’t seem to recognize him as the rabbit who tried to give her flowers earlier…
Too true to life. Your comic makes me uncomfortable, in a good way.
June 11th, 2010 at 7:40 pm
This guy is me all over again. “If at first you don’t succeed, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.” — W.C. Fields.
June 11th, 2010 at 8:51 pm
I say challenge Serge to a D&D match. They become best buds and renounce floozy bunnygals in favor of more mature gamerchicks. In a strange twist Lottie plays 4.0 while HeroBun prefers 3.2 and Serge doesn’t really know what he likes but would rather play YuGiOh teh card game. This introduces a possible crossover with Sluggy!
June 11th, 2010 at 10:49 pm
Why take one if you could have all three of them?
June 12th, 2010 at 12:17 am
Fight Serge in some kinda D&D inspired LARPing duel?
June 12th, 2010 at 2:33 am
Go home, play D&D, increase CHA, try again.
June 12th, 2010 at 4:24 am
reassert
June 12th, 2010 at 4:38 am
Let’s see a picture of this Serge…
AND
really nice job guest scribbling on this strip:
http://www.butternutsquash.net/2008/01/24/guest-strip-by-karl-kerschl-the-bns-army/
I’m a one webcomic kind of guy, but i look…and my wandering eye led me back home…
June 12th, 2010 at 2:55 pm
My heart aches for him. Though I cannot tell him what TO do, I am certain he should NOT pyne for her for 2 years, wishing she would notice him though he never once is clear in his intention towards her. That has never worked for me and I’m sure it won’t work for him either.
June 12th, 2010 at 5:22 pm
I would say number 1! He has to learn to assert himself if he’s going to be able to gain the affection of any young doe. Even if she turns him down at least he gained experience. THen he can go home and play D&D. :D
June 12th, 2010 at 10:50 pm
All the good nerds go home and play D&D, I VOTE THAT!
June 13th, 2010 at 1:29 am
Go home and RP the whole thing in D&D with serge as the encounter boss.
June 13th, 2010 at 7:07 am
reassert, the other options are depressing.
June 13th, 2010 at 3:30 pm
Go home and play D&D. That always worked for me!
June 14th, 2010 at 2:55 am
Or.. The bunny should just go do horse :)
June 14th, 2010 at 3:56 am
Clearly the only option is three. A duel, for honour.
That, or see what Lottie is doing Friday night.
June 14th, 2010 at 9:31 am
We all know that Karl has some fourth option up his sleeve that few or none of us have thought of, that will take most or all of us by surprise, right? None of the three he’s offered would lead to anything like a plot development we expect from this strip. So I’m betting on a knuckleball on the 3-2 pitch.
That said: Speedwell, you’re a genius. He’s too smitten to do it, but it would be wonderful to watch. :)
June 14th, 2010 at 9:51 am
He needs to tell her they were from him, spill his guts about his feelings, then say something along the lines of, “Forget it, it was a long shot, have a nice life.”
Then play D&D.
June 14th, 2010 at 10:00 am
Poor little feller, trying so hard and not getting anywhere! Either he’s finally gonna get this chick to understand his feelings and be uber happy the end, or he’s gna find someone who likes him just as much. I hope the guy gets happy eventually tho :)
Just caught up to the story btw, absolutely fabulous. I can’t wait to see what Charles will do next with the humans, and whether he’ll get his pacifier back. and I miss townsen :(
June 14th, 2010 at 2:11 pm
Don’t want this turning into a Watership Down moment so no fighting Serge, and I’m not sure D&D is a wise choice for a rabbit that is having a hard time with the ladies, afraid he might not ever come out of his burrow if he falls into that, so I say “Reassert Himself”. Get back to that hole and let her know those flowers were from you, and that you think she’s got the cutest little twitchy nose and fluffy little tail.
June 14th, 2010 at 5:07 pm
I just love the way you assume women are dumb.
Of course she knows he likes her.
It’s so obvious you could see it a mile away. F**k, ten miles away.
What’s wrong with people these days…
June 14th, 2010 at 8:32 pm
What planet does everyone live on where fighting a girl’s boyfriend means that you will “win” her? She doesn’t respect him. If he wants to change that, he should do something with himself and put himself out there in the world.
June 14th, 2010 at 9:42 pm
If boy-bunny was the “reassert himself” type he’d never have walked away all hang-dog in the 1st place.
He should go get himself some assertiveness training, and then find a new girl-bunny to pursue. This one is clueless and too quick to assume.
June 14th, 2010 at 10:33 pm
#1! But if that doesn’t work, he should give up on this girl for sure. I don’t even think she’s right for him.
June 15th, 2010 at 6:31 am
I vote for DnD. It will love him more than that girl ever will. :)
June 15th, 2010 at 12:34 pm
He should play D&D, but he should still get the girl at some point. That will make the nerd fans happy.
June 15th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
2, 1,and 3 in that order.
He should go home disappointed and play DnD. While doing so he recognizes an analogy between his hero and his romantic situation. Goes back to reassert himself and get shot down. Serge wants to fight anyway and beats up our hero. Lottie asks him out afterwards because she thinks he is very brave for standing up for himself.
June 15th, 2010 at 4:43 pm
Reassert himself … and invite her and her girlfriend to come play D&D with him. Serge will be soooo jealous. And if she doesn’t, then, as they say… she’s not the right girl rabbit for Our Hero.
June 15th, 2010 at 10:17 pm
Quick! To the D&D Cave!!! Uh, erm…I mean, Basement.
June 15th, 2010 at 11:24 pm
FIGHT SERGE!
June 16th, 2010 at 12:11 am
Reassert himself and then fight Serge.
June 16th, 2010 at 4:02 am
He should take the sneaky approach aka LET’S BE FRIENDS FIRST K.
Or he could go be a hermit somewhere and grow old and bitter.
June 16th, 2010 at 5:59 am
I would love if he went to fight Serge, and it turns out Serge is gay
June 16th, 2010 at 8:35 am
I say reassert himself. Your work is fantastic! I’ll be coming back regularly.
June 17th, 2010 at 2:19 pm
My vote:
Go home, play D&D and meet a nerdy D&D rabbit to fall in requited love with.
June 19th, 2010 at 12:41 am
He should invite her to play DnD and fight serge in a pen and paper magical duel. That’ll win her heart for sure.
June 22nd, 2010 at 3:06 am
The way I see it if he tries to reassert himself he may have to fight Serge. But if he does fight and lose he may have a chance with the girl, as she will feel bad for him, see how much he’s willing to go through to be with her, and she’ll see that Serge is a violent jerk.
Of course if he instigates the fight than it could backfire, and he’d come off as the jerk. Also either way he’s probably going to get a beat down. And he’ll likely have better chances if he finds a girl who is at least interested in him… I know plenty of cool chicks who play D&D.
He should try playing D&D, maybe he’ll meet a shy girl rabbit that secretly likes him… but he still wants to be with the cool rabbit and so he is too focused on her to notice that someone else might like him.
…fighting Serge it is.
June 22nd, 2010 at 7:37 am
I’m with Ivy K. !!!
Gamer chick ftw!
