Time to show that trap who’s boss!
BOOK UPDATE: I’m making progress on orders of the Master Editions, so THANK YOU ALL for your patience. A lot of them have shipped and I’m working hard to catch up to demand. Unfortunately, the backlog of book sketches has forced me to put the Master Editions on hold for a little while. If you’d like to order a book, the Regular Edition is still available and will ship QUICKLY (like, the same day you order it, probably).
So, I apologize if you were holding out for a book sketch, but I already feel guilty about making people wait so long, and I need to finish the existing orders. The Master Edition will go back on sale as soon as things cool down.
Again, sorry!

Oh dear. That’s a face I don’t recall seeing before. If I lived anywhere near him, I’d MOVE RIGHT NOW.

Don’t feel guilty! We knew it could take a while when we ordered. I’m sure it will be worth the wait. I got a shipping notice the other day, so now I’m stalking my mail person.

Oh, Charles looks pretty pissed !!

This might be my favorite image of Charles yet.
June 30th, 2010 at 2:06 pm
Again, the black birds doth line his path.
A murder of crows.
Portents, portents.

June 30th, 2010 at 2:30 pm
Charles is on the move.
June 30th, 2010 at 2:44 pm
Oh, No! I understand your hold on master editions, but PLEASE don’t give up on them forever!
Since I was intro’ed to your site about a month ago, I’ve started marshaling my little spare funds into an envelope waiting to deploy for the purpose of ordering one!
However, at the rate I’m going I probably wont’ be ready ’till you bring it back, but in any case please do make it available again! Love that beautiful traditional-media look!

I love the way you drew Charles in the second panel. Even though he’s pissed looking, I find it really cute.

The wait for the sketch is more than worth it. I plan to order a few more master editions for gifts this xmas. So keep sketchin’! :)

I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I received my master’s edition book today, and it is simply amazing! I realized that what I first took to be the inside cover of the book was indeed your drawing, it was just so well done that I thought it was printed on the page! Can’t wait for Volume 2 :3

His face is awesome in the third panel!
June 30th, 2010 at 9:43 pm
He looks like he’s totally going to take care of the crows once he’s taken care of the trap. And I don’t mean he’s going to be making any breakfast-in-bed for any of them.
June 30th, 2010 at 10:33 pm
Third panel Charles looks like the guy from the Orange County Motorcycles reality show. Great work as always!

Looks as if Charles is going to use the trap as a mace.

Thanks for the book update Karl. I was getting a bit concerned, but I have faith you’ll come through in the end. I can’t wait to get mine.

Looking like Paul Teutul?
*squint*
Yeah, I can see where that came from!
And now I can’t get the picture of Charles riding into the city on a big chopper out of my head. XD

Charles does indeed mean business.
And my book came yesterday. Just …. gorgeous.

Will this be the story arc where we find out Charles is the Prince Who Should Be King, living under a powerful spell to keep him safe from the Usurper? Just guessing.

love it

Karl, please take ALL the time you need. From my perspective I’d be happy to wait AS LONG AS IT TAKES. Part of supporting creator owned, self published stuff like this is knowing that the artist/ writer gives everything the time THEY feel it needs.
I’m happy in your hands.

No worries Karl. I can wait for my book :)
July 4th, 2010 at 7:41 pm
Oh, I agree: it is much better to wait and get the books done right than to get them fast. Why else purchase the master’s edition, eh?
A question I’ve been wondering about of late (and totally unrelated): why do comic strips only use capital letters? Where did that tradition start, and why?
July 5th, 2010 at 11:55 pm
Karl,
I’ll have to wait for the sketch version. My friend enjoyed the book I gave her very much!
