Machine of Death

I wanted to take a moment to promote this book. Not just because I did illustration work in it, and not just because it contains stories and drawings from some of the finest creators on the internet, and not even because I’m friends with a bunch of the people involved.
I wanted to support the idea that an independent, self-published anthology could make it to the top of Amazon’s Bestseller List for at least one day – TODAY – October 26th, through word of mouth and grassroots networking. This is the future of publishing, as far as I’m concerned. Great content sold directly to the readers by the people who created it. If you’d like to support this effort, check out the Machine of Death page on Amazon.
Or for more information, go to the web site and see what it’s all about.

Thanks for the recommendation, will definitely look into it. However, not everybody is as fortunate or talented to have his/her independent book into the bestseller list. That’s why many authors will go through the normal Publisher route. Cheers

But… this idea is going ahead to prove that ANYONE can get a book published and bought now, with or without hired publishers. It’s a great idea.

How did your team market this? It would be interesting to hear the story.

I bought it yesterday on the strength of North & !Malki. I did not know that Karl was involved, or I would not have hesitated for the 6 nanoseconds that I did. Now I can’t wait to see it.

@Joel – I didn’t have anything to do with the marketing, but it was basically just a plea for support from the creators across several social networks. And it worked! The book went to number 1 on Amazon’s Bestseller List and remained there for more than a day.

I bought the book as soon as I got wind of it (from BoingBoing.) All of the webcomics authors involved are in my favorites, and the strength of who was in the credits was more than enough for my money. I look forward to awesome stories…
Karl, I can’t wait to be able to buy a master edition (I waited and regretted it when you closed sales of them.) I am sure you are super burned out from getting it all done, but I will be patient. Thanks for the awesome webcomic.

My copy arrived today! Did you go out of your way to draw an image for the most depressing story in there? Starvation?? Beautiful work, as always.
